Benefits of Membership

Informative Services
The Center collects and provides information to its members in a variety of different ways. We maintain a database of pay information, spot surveys, private sector salary study and benefits survey.  These can all be accessed through this website in the Member Login area.

Training & Development
The Center provides training and seminar opportunities on topics of interest to our members. For example, programs have been provided on public records management, sexual harassment, customer service and construction in the public sector.

Professional Network
The Center provides a network of professional public managers who are able to share ideas, experiences and concerns in a non-competitive, mutually supportive environment. Member jurisdictions benefit directly from the combined management skills and rapid information exchange that occurs.

Collaborative Projects
Judgmental Use of Force (JUFS) Training for Police Officers
Mutual Aid Pact for Public Works
Capital Asset Financing Program

Center Governance
The Center operates under the direction of an elected volunteer Board of Trustees.  Board members serve for staggered three-year terms and receive no compensation for their services.  Please click here for the current Board of Trustees.

Membership

Any Ohio political subdivision in the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area is eligible to join The Center for Local Government. Membership shall be effective upon receipt of membership dues from the jurisdiction.

There are two classes of membership: Full Members and Associate Members. Full Members are political subdivisions which employ a full-time, appointed public administrator (e.g., Manager, Administrator, or Safety Services Director). Associate Members are political subdivisions which do not employ a full-time, appointed public administrator.

Associate Members are entitled to all of the rights of Members except that they are not entitled to a vote on Center corporation matters and they are not eligible for membership on the Board of Trustees or the Advisory Committee.
