Benefits of Membership
Shared Services
The Center provides a number of shared services opportunities to its members and it always on the hunt for additional chances to help governments collaborate. Some examples of shared services include:
Mutual Aid Pact for Public Works
Capital Asset Financing Program
Treasury Asset Management Program
Informative Services
The Center collects and provides information to its members in a variety of different ways. We maintain a database of pay information, spot surveys and benefits survey. These can all be accessed through this website in the Member Login area.
Training & Development
The Center provides training and seminar opportunities on topics of interest to our members. For example, the CLG Human Resources Taskforce provides trainings on new developments in HR. CLG staff provides training to administrative professionals on the latest practices in office management. Through our partnership with the Municipal Training Academy, numerous trainings are held on a plethora of other appropriate topics.
Professional Network
The Center provides a network of professional public managers who are able to share ideas, experiences and concerns in a non-competitive, mutually supportive environment. Member jurisdictions benefit directly from the combined management skills and rapid information exchange that occurs.
Membership Eligibility
Any City, Village, Township, County, Joint Fire District or Park District in the Center Membership Area (CMA) may join the Center. The CMA consists of the following counties: Hamilton, Butler, Warren, Clermont, Montgomery, Greene, Clinton, Brown, Preble, and Miami. Membership shall be effective upon receipt of membership dues from the jurisdiction.
There are two classes of membership: Full Members and Associate Members. Full Members are political subdivisions which employ a full-time, appointed public administrator (e.g., Manager, Administrator, or Safety Services Director). Associate Members are political subdivisions which do not employ a full-time, appointed public administrator (E.g. a “strong mayor” community).
Associate Members are entitled to all of the rights of Members except that they are not entitled to a vote on Center corporation matters and they are not eligible for membership on the Board of Trustees or the Advisory Committee. ALL MEMBERS are eligible to participate in any CLG program that is brought online.
Center Governance
The Center operates under the direction of an elected volunteer Board of Trustees. Board members serve for staggered three-year terms and receive no compensation for their services. Please click here for the current Board of Trustees.
